The idea for setting up a private secondary smart school was first mooted in March of 1997 and Sekolah Swasta Seri Insan rapidly came to the public attention with the full support of the Education Department who granted a license on November 17th 1997. The school opened on January 5th 1998 with an enrolment of 123 students among the five classes from Form One to Form Five.

The school is co educational. The curriculum follows that of the Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia and a wide variety of electives are offered for the SPM examination. The medium of instruction is Bahasa Malaysia.

Sekolah Swasta Seri Insan was officially launched by the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Yong Teck Lee on April 21st 1998. The State Director of Education, Datuk Dr. Haji Hasbullah bin Haji Taha was also in attendance.

After two years at our Taman Iramanis premises the school moved to the Medan Perdana site in Jalan Tuaran. This is a large 4 storey building ideally suited for a school. The magnificent premises and excellent atmosphere have enhanced the quality of the school.
